課程概述

The course, which may also be called Integrated Language Learning and Research, introduces ICT-based (Information and Communication Technology) foreign language learning strategies that build up the students’ own personal ELearning framework (i.e., awareness of self, language learning processes and structures, linguistic knowledge, and communication skills), a vital element of second/foreign language learning, which allows students to define, manage and self-regulate their learning continuously, while equipping them with both General and Specialized knowledge through topics like Food, Movies, Astronomy, Technology, Architecture, Bails, etc. This course also provides students an opportunity to shift from test-oriented learning to task-based learning through exposure to academic research skills such as analytical and critical thinking within ELearning.

Students access the three online pathways of building vocabulary: concept mapping, connecting, mind mapping and a fuller version: editing words/ lexicographing through translation, definition, application (sentence-making), visualization, etc. They distinguish vocabulary learning from memorizing vocabulary.

E-forum
Using the NTU Online Program http://140.112.185.55/site/login students engage in e-discussions which prepare them for oral discussion and provide them an opportunity to explore concepts for research. They cite and quote experts’ theories and related concepts to prove their statement/s.
Online learning
Students engage in online learning.
Debriefing (ELearning)
Students reflect on their ELearning with the teacher’s guidance in order to self-evaluate their performance and set a learning goal. The task answers the following questions:
1. Was ELearning helpful for developing my listening comprehension?
2. Did I have problems? What problems did I encounter?
3. How did I solve them?
Some Learning Principles
1. Learning takes place when one personally attends to one’s specific patterns of learning and fulfilling them responsibly.
2. Learning vocabulary is vital; it is best managed through the VocaBuilding app, not through memorization.
3. Questions are not kept to oneself. If one is lost in any part of the class, ASK immediately in class or, if the leaner is a shy type, it is important to arrange an individual conference and be clarified of one’s doubts.
4. Learning how to collaborate is a lifelong work, especially in this globalized Info Age.
